Stage 1 Map
From East Croydon Station, turn left and follow the Tram line into Addiscome Road. Follow Addiscombe Road until you reach some traffic lights. At these lights, if you look to the left you'll see one of the few buildings left standing from the East India Company training academy, the officers quarters. Continue along Addiscome Road. The tram now bears off to the right, before we lose sight of it. On the left, you'll pass Addiscome Farm, which is one of the oldest buildings in Croydon. After a while, we come to a roundabout. Turn right here into Shirley Road. Climb the hill, and just before the next roundabout, turn left into Barnfield Avenue which almost immediately becomes Eldon Avenue.At the end of the road, turn right into Shirley Avenue. A right turn then takes us into Wickham Road.
Stage 2 Map
Follow Wickham Road, until you come to a roundabout. Take the third exit here, into the High Street. Follow the High Street, which becomes Glebe Way, for a downhill run. At the bottom of the hill is a roundabout, where we go straight across into Croydon Road.
Stage 3 Map
Follow Croydon Road, up a steep hill after which you'll find yourself going through Hayes Common.
Stage 4 Map
Keep following Croydon Road, going through two sets of traffic lights. At a third set of lights, turn right then immediate left into Crofton Road.
Stage 5 Map
Keep following Crofton Road. After a while, you'll come to a good downhill run, passing Orpington Railway station on your left. At the botton of the hill, there's a roundabout. Take the first left exit into the High Street. Follow the High Street through Orpington town centre. This is one of the few shopping high streets that hasn't been pedestrianised. Folllow the one way system to the left into Goodmead Road. At the end of this road, turn lef into Perry Hall Road. After a while, the road becomes Chislehurst Road.
Stage 6 Map
Follow Chislehurst Road until you get to a roundabout. Turn left here into Petts Wood Road. At the end of this road, we need to take a slight detour to cross the railway. Turn left into Station Square, which becomes Fairway. At the end of the road, turn right into Tudor Way, passing under the railway bridge, At the mini roundabout, turn right into Queensway. Follow Queensway, then turn left into Frankswood Avenue.
Stage 7 Map
Follow the road, which becomes Southborough Lane. Go straight over the roundabout, where the road becomes Crown Road. At the end of this round, take the right hand turn into Bromley Road. There is a cycle lane you can use to make this turn, if you wish. Keep following Bromley Road, which later becomes Mason's Hill. Keep to the left. At the lights, turn left into Westmoreland Road.
Stage 8 Map
Follow Westmoreland Road. Go straight across at the lights, into Barnfield Wood Road. At the junction, turn left into Red Lodge Road. This road runs through Langley Park golf course. Go straight over the mini roundabout. Go straight across at the lights, into Ravenscourt Cresent. Follow the road, which becomes Manor Park Road. At the roundabout, take the second exit into Wickhan Road.
Stage 9 Map
We're now back on the route we started on. Keep following Wickham Road.
Stage 10 Map
At the roundabout, take the right hand exit into Shirley Road. At the next roundabout, turn left into Addiscombe Road. Follow the road. Eventually, the tram line reappears on the left. Just before the tram line crosses the road, get into the right hand lane. Cyclists can turn right here to continue on Addiscome Road. Take care to listen out for trams, as there's not much room for them to overtake on some sections of this road. To avoid negotiating the one way system, it's easiest to get off and cross Addiscombe Road just before the threepenny bit building. Walk across Cherry Orchard Road at the Zebra crossing, past the Post Office,then East Croydon Station is right ahead of you.
