Stage 1 Map
From East Croydon Station, turn left and follow the Tram line into Addiscome Road. Turn right into Park Hill Road. Go straight across the roundabout.
Stage 2 Map
At the end of Park Hill Road, turn right then left into South Park Hill Road, via two mini roundabouts. At the end of South Park Hill Road, turn right into Croham Road.
Follow Croham Road, under the railway bridge, then at the roundabout take the first left into Selsdon Road. Turn right into Junction Road, then left into Brighton Road.
Stage 3 Map
Keep following Brighton Road. When you come to a roundabout with a building in the middle of the road, keep to the right, then turn left and continue on Brighton Road, following the sign for Purley and Coulsdon. Follow the road until you get to Purley Cross. Get in the right hand lane, and follow the road to the left, in the middle lane. Then bear righ, then left to continue on Brighton Road, passing the Tesco superstore on your left.
Stage 4 Map
Keep following Brighton road, though Coulsdon. Turn left into Malpit Lane, and pass under the railway bridge. Turn right into Ditches Lane. Cross over a cattle grid, and enter Farthing Down. There's a fair hill to climb. It's worth looking to your left and behind, for a good view of Coulsdon and Purley. As you leave the open area of the down, you'll pass some thick woodland on your left. I have seen wild deer in these woods, early in the morning.
Stage 5 Map
Just after you pass a signpost for a church of your right, turn left into Doctor's Lane. As you travel along this road, look over the fences to your right. I'll swear you can see a full size model of a grizzley bear. Anyone know what this is about? At the end of the road, turn left into Rook Lane.
Stage 6 Map
Follow Rook Lane, which becomes Chaldron Road. Follow the Road until you reach a T junction.
Stage 7 Map
At the junction, turn left into Townend. Follow this road, going straight across the roundabout into Buxton Road. Keep following the road. After a while, it bears to the left and becomes Hayes Lane. Follow the road, passing Kenley Aerodrome on your right.
Stage 8 Map
Hayes Lane becomes Hayes Park Road, for a downhill run. There's speed bumps on this hill though, with no room for cyclists to avoid them. There's a sharp right turn at the bottom of the hill, then a left turn into Abbot's Lane, passing Kenley Railway Station on your right. Turn left into Godstone Road.
Stage 9 Map
Just before the zebra crossing, turn right into St.James Rd. This is a very steep climb. At the end of the road, turn right into Down's Court Road. It's still uphill until the road becomes Mitchley Avenue.
Stage 10 Map
After a bit of a downhill run, it's a good climb again up Mitchley Avenue, which becomes Rectory Park. (Down worry, all this hill climbing will pay off soon.) When you get to the big roundabout, go straight over into Addington Road. Follow this road until the traffic lights, where you turn left into Farley Road. This is where all those uphill climbs finally pay off. You won't really need to peddle again for about a mile, as the road becomes Croham Valley Road and finally Croham Road. In fact, it's fairly easy going all the way to South Park Hill Road, where you take a right turn. We're now back on the route we started on. At the end of the road, going over the two mini roundabouts, turn right then left into Park Hill Road.
Stage 11 Map
Go straight over the roundabout, to stay on Park Hill Road. At the end of the road, turn left into Addiscombe Road. To avoid negotiating the one way system, it's easiest to get off and cross Addiscombe Road just before the threepenny bit building. Walk across Cherry Orchard Road at the Zebra crossing, past the Post Office, then East Croydon Station is right ahead of you.
